Slowing down with Stitch Meditation: A Personal Journey Online
About the Programme
Slow down.... find your inner tortoise.
Focus on the present
Focus on your breathing
Connect with yourself and nature.
Slow stitch, aka Stitch meditation, was an activity that textile artist, Agatha “Agy” practiced daily during 2020 to process grief and accept the circumstances in which she was in. Each stitch represented a step and a moment in time towards reconciling with the new norm, and looking towards the future. Each square that she sewed was combined into a blanket, an item that provides comfort and safety. In this talk, Agy takes you through her journey, discovering the importance of slowing down and finding her inner tortoise, and what it means to stitch with intention. This session will also include a demonstration.
This talk is open to all. Participants who registered for the 'Threads of Time' workshops by Agy Lee must also attend this session.
About the Speaker
Agy Lee is a textile artist who creates textile collages and 3D textures through free motion machine embroidery, handstitching and marking that are not only vibrant and dynamic, but captivate the viewer. As an environmental advocate, her work explores slowing down and making visible the things that are usually 'hidden' from the public's eye. Her first solo, “Hues of Loss” (2023), focused on the beauty and fragility of coral reefs, and her most recent works on embroidered moss forms were showcased and spotlighted at Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2025.
