DESCRIPTION:\n\nSingapore Lyric Opera presents\nA Journey of 
 Love\n\nFeaturing Soloists Edward Kim and Weiying Sim\nWith Lim Chee Yap on 
 piano\n\n\n\nThis is a walk-in programme. Registration is not 
 required.\n\nSynopsis\nThis operatic programme traces a decade-long journey 
 of love through works previously staged by Singapore Lyric Opera\, 
 beginning with Turandot in 2016. Through a selection of arias and duets\, 
 the concert explores love in its many forms — from devotion and longing 
 to wit\, temptation\, tragedy\, and hope — offering audiences an intimate 
 and accessible experience of the operatic repertoire.\n\n\n\nProgramme

 Pagliacci\n\nSilvio Aria – E allor perché\, di’\, tu m’hai stregato

 Zauberflöte\n\nPamina Aria – Ach\, ich fühl’s \n\nA pure and 
 heartfelt love marked by loss and despair\n\n\n\nDuet (Papageno & Papagena) 
 – Pa-pa-pa \n\nA joyful celebration of love fulfilled with 
 hope\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers\nThe husband and wife duo are alumni of the 
 Singapore Lyric Opera.\n\n\n\nWeiying Sim \nWeiying Sim is a Singaporean 
 soprano who holds a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Music. She 
 is also a graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and the Wales 
 International Academy of Voice (WIAV). She made her operatic debut in 2019 
 as Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro as a Singapore Lyric Opera Leow 
 Siak Fah Artist.\n\n\n\nShe has appeared with Welsh National Opera in 
 several productions\, performing the roles of the Pied Piper (The Pied 
 Piper of Hamelin)\, the Elder Magician (The Crab That Played with the 
 Sea)\, and First Spirit (Cendrillon). Additional operatic engagements 
 include Voluptua (La Pizza con Funghi)\, the Contessa di Ceprano and Paggio 
 (Rigoletto) with New Opera Singapore\; the Priestess (Iphigénie en 
 Tauride) with The Opera People\; and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel) and Sister 
 Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites) at the Royal Welsh College of Music & 
 Drama.\n\n\n\nAn active recitalist\, Weiying has given performances in 
 Singapore and internationally. She is a recipient of the Janet Price Opera 
 Prize\, the Valetta Iacopi Memorial Prize\, and the Philippa & David 
 Seligman Awards for Excellence.\n\n\n\nEdward Kim\nEdward Kim is a baritone 
 originally from South Korea and currently based in Singapore. He has 
 performed operatic roles across Europe and Asia\, including Don Giovanni 
 (title role) with The Opera People\; Silvio (Pagliacci)\, Dancairo 
 (Carmen)\, and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) with Singapore Lyric Opera\; the 
 Forester (The Cunning Little Vixen) with Hampstead Garden Opera\; Dandini 
 (La Cenerentola) at the Welsh National Opera Gala conducted by Carlo 
 Rizzi\; Guglielmo (Le Villi)\; and Count Formaggio (La Pizza con Funghi) 
 with New Opera Singapore.\n\n\n\nHe has appeared at festivals including the 
 Verbier Festival (Atelier Lyrique)\, Oxford International Song Festival\, 
 and the Voices of Singapore Festival. His competition experience includes 
 the Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize\, the Osaka International Music Competition\, 
 the Antonina Campi Special Prize\, and the Concert Artist Competition in 
 New York.\n\n\n\nEdward holds a Master’s degree with Distinction from the 
 Royal College of Music and is currently a full-time faculty member at 
 Capital College of the Arts in Singapore.
